Why small rhythms matter more than perfection

Balance Isn’t Perfect—It’s Consistent

And what I see happen, every time (in myself, and in so many others), that creates burnout isn’t too much—it’s all or nothing.

Our brains tell us, “If you can’t do it perfectly, don’t bother.” No gym? Skip movement. No quiet hour? Skip prayer. No clean house? Why even start.

And very subtly, we stop. We give up. We let the loudest things win—work, chores, deadlines.

Often when I’m coaching, people don’t even realize it’s happening. They don’t see the moment they decided that something small wasn’t enough. And so they do nothing.

This is a vital skill that ONLY gets learned by practicing minimum rhythms.

By catching yourself in that all-or-nothing moment and saying, “I don’t need perfect. I need consistent.”

By walking for five minutes. By praying one line. By picking up one small space.

This is how I’ve kept going in overwhelming seasons. It’s how I’ve stayed steady in work, health, and relationships.

The compounding effect is massive.

And yet this moment rarely gets the attention it deserves.

Except—we call it out in my coaching.

We practice it.
We simplify it.
We celebrate it.

Because that tiny shift—choosing one small rhythm over nothing at all—is the real difference between drifting and living with balance.

✨ I share more about this (and how to apply it across the 10 Domains of Life) in my latest blog → Read it here.

💭 Note to Self: What I’m Learning
Balance isn’t about doing it all—it never has been. It’s about recognizing what matters most in this season and giving that your best energy.

The rest?

It only needs your “enough.” That shift takes the pressure off and makes space for joy.

🔧 Try This (Seasonal Rhythm Hack):
Pick one small rhythm today and treat it like a win. Read a single verse and let it guide your mindset. Walk for just five minutes and notice how your body feels lighter. Clear one surface in your home and enjoy the calm it creates. Tiny steps add up faster than you think.

Take the next small step,

Terrie

Terrie Power Coaching It’s still 90° in Texas—but your connections might be cooling off. Everywhere I go lately, I hear the same phrase on repeat: “It’s just such a busy season.” It’s like the official soundtrack of October. Even though it’s still hot here in Texas, the pumpkin spice and Halloween decorations are doing their best to convince us it’s fall. But between full calendars, endless to-do lists, and all the noise of “getting things done,” connection is often the first thing that slips...

Terrie Power Coaching Habits That Nourish the Spirit The other night I was on my computer while Jason and I watched TV. The Wi-Fi was crawling.Jason was crunching away on his snacks. And me? I was sighing. Side-eyeing. Frustrated. Not because of the Wi-Fi. Not because of the eating. It was because my compassion tank was empty. When my spirit isn’t being cared for, little things feel huge. My patience gets thin. My empathy runs low. My joy feels far away. Have you noticed the same? Snapping at...

Terrie Power Coaching Fuel Your Body, Fuel Your Goals Hey friend, Let’s talk about your body for a minute. Not in a “new year, new you” kind of way, but in the real, everyday rhythm kind of way. Here’s the truth: your body is the engine that carries your goals forward. You can have the best plans, the prettiest planner, and the boldest dreams…but if your energy is running on fumes, consistency won’t last. And this isn’t just about your body on its own—it’s part of what I call the Circle of...
