Where Will You Be Five Years From Now?

Someday Sounds So Responsible

Hi Reader,

Someday Sounds So Responsible

I didn't think I was avoiding a dream.

I thought I was being practical.

When I first said out loud that I wanted to become a speaker and a coach, my brain immediately started building a very convincing case.

Kids in college...maybe after they graduate.

A full-time job...maybe when life slows down.

A busy life...maybe someday.

And the tricky thing was...

All of those reasons were true.

That's what makes someday so hard to recognize.

Sometimes we're not choosing between a good decision and a bad decision. Sometimes we're choosing between staying where we are (because it's comfortable) and taking a step toward something that matters (knowing it will be uncomfortable). What do you think wins most of the time?

The Problem With Waiting for the Perfect Time

I wonder how many dreams, goals, and changes are sitting in someday. Not because we don't care about them. Not because they don't matter.

But because we're waiting for a magical season where everything feels easier.

The schedule clears.

The uncertainty disappears.

The perfect plan arrives.

(If you find that season, let me know. ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Five years later, I'm really grateful Jason challenged my someday.

Not because the timing suddenly became perfect.

It didn't.

But because I stopped asking, "Why won't this work?"

And started asking, "What would make this possible?"

A Question for You

Where are you waiting for life to slow down?

Is there something you've been telling yourself you'll do...

after the busy season?

after things calm down?

after you feel more ready?

Take a few minutes this week and ask:

What do I want the next five years to look like?

And maybe even more importantly:

Is the way I'm spending my days moving me toward that?

You don't have to change everything.

You don't need the whole plan.

Sometimes momentum begins by admitting there is something you actually want.

Celebrating with you,

Terrie

P.S. Yesterday I shared Celebration Bonus #2 because this is exactly why I created Future Focus. If this email made you realize you've been living in "someday," there's still time to join us.

During the six-week Future Focus Cohort, we'll slow down and look at what you want the next 5โ€“10 years to look like, walk through the different areas of your life, and make sure your daily goals, rhythms, and routines are connected to what matters most.

As part of the five-year celebration, the cohort is 50% off ($122 instead of $244) when you use the code COHORT50. We start Tuesday, July 14 at 7 PM Central.

Terrie Power Coaching Hi Reader, The 5-year celebration continues! ๐ŸŽ‰ Five years of Terrie Power Coaching. Five years of watching people discover what they want, take brave steps, and make meaningful progress on what matters most. And five celebration bonuses throughout July! Today is Bonus #2. When I thought about what I wanted to offer this week, Future Focus was an easy choice. Why? Because five years ago, my life changed when I stopped saying "someday" and started asking what was possible....

Terrie Power Coaching Hi Reader, What if the thing you've been hoping for is more possible than you think? Maybe you've had an idea that's been sitting on the shelf. A business you've wanted to grow. A book you've wanted to write. Or maybe you're simply tired of knowing you're capable of more but aren't sure what the next step looks like. Last week, I shared the story of five words that changed the direction of my life: "I think it's possible." Those words didn't change my circumstances. They...

It Almost Stayed a Someday Dream Terrie Power Coaching โ€ฆ If Jason hadn't asked one simple question that evening, I honestly don't think Terrie Power Coaching would exist today. At the time, all I could see were the reasons to wait. Kids in college. A full-time job. A busy life. Maybe someday. Then he said something I'll never forget. "I think it's possible." We were watching an Enneagram webinar together when I casually said, "I'd love to be a speaker and a coach someday." It wasn't some big...
