I Didn't Expect This Conversation to Make Me Cry

Sometimes the best update isn't adding something new.

Terrie Power Coaching

I've been thinking about something this week.

Isn't it funny how we're so quick to blame ourselves when something stops working?

Our first thought is usually, "I need to try harder." We rarely stop to ask if life has changed.

And honestly...life changes all the time.

Maybe the kids are back in school. Maybe your business has grown. Maybe you're caring for aging parents. Or maybe your priorities have quietly shifted over the last few months. Of course your rhythms would need an update.

That isn't failure. That's life.

Before you start adding more to your plate this week, pull out your calendar and take a fresh look.

Ask yourself:

  • Does this still reflect what matters most?
  • What no longer fits this season?
  • What's one small change that would make life feel a little lighter?

I've found that meaningful progress doesn't usually come from doing more.

It comes from making sure your rhythms still fit the life you're living today.

Sometimes we're simply too close to our own lives to see what's obvious. Another perspective can make all the difference.

One More Thing...

I did something recently that surprised me.

I've been refreshing my wardrobe because Terrie Power Coaching has grown, and honestly...I've grown too.

While I was talking with my coach, I heard myself say something I'd never said before:

“I am not leaving out who I am now.”

That stopped me.

It wasn't really about clothes.

It was about recognizing that I'd grown into this season, but part of me was still showing up like the old version of Terrie.

So yes, I bought a few new things. But first, I had to make room for them.

Turns out, closets aren't the only things that need updating.

Sometimes our rhythms, our expectations, and even the way we see ourselves need a little room to catch up with the person we're becoming.

Have a wonderful week!

Terrie

A reboot isn't about starting over. Terrie Power Coaching … Last week I introduced the idea of a Reboot, Update, or Restore. Several of you reached out after reading the blog, and one question kept coming up: "Okay...but where do I start?" My answer is probably simpler than you're expecting. When we feel out of rhythm, we tend to think we need to fix everything. We start making long lists, creating new routines, or convincing ourselves that this time we're finally going to do it all. I've...

Before you start over, make sure you're solving the right problem. Terrie Power Coaching … Every August I hear the same thing. "I need to get back on track." Maybe you've said it too. Summer has a way of changing our routines. We stay up later. We travel. We say yes to things we normally wouldn't. And before we know it, August arrives and it feels like we should magically have everything figured out by Monday. Can I encourage you with one thought? Maybe nothing is wrong. Maybe you don't need...

What if you never felt ready? Terrie Power Coaching … A question for you... Have you noticed how "I just need to think about it a little more" can quietly turn into weeks...or even months? I laugh because I've said it, too. Sometimes it sounds like:"Let me do a little more research." Or..."I just need to get organized first." Or my personal favorite..."I'll start on Monday." None of those things are bad. But every now and then, they're really just another way of saying, "I'm waiting until I...
