Five Years Ago, Five Words Changed My Life

It Almost Stayed a Someday Dream

Terrie Power Coaching

If Jason hadn't asked one simple question that evening, I honestly don't think Terrie Power Coaching would exist today.

At the time, all I could see were the reasons to wait.

Kids in college.

A full-time job.

A busy life.

Maybe someday.

Then he said something I'll never forget.

"I think it's possible."

We were watching an Enneagram webinar together when I casually said, "I'd love to be a speaker and a coach someday."

It wasn't some big announcement. It was more like one of those thoughts that slips out before you even realize you've said it.

He looked at me and asked, "Why don't you?"

I started sharing all the reasons it wasn't the right time.

When I finally finished, he simply looked at me and said five words I'll never forget:

"I think it's possible."

Looking back, I realize those words didn't remove my fear. They simply helped me see the next step. And that next step created momentum I never could have imagined.

A Question I've Been Thinking About

As I reflected on this story, I found myself wondering how many dreams quietly stay in "someday" because no one ever speaks possibility into them.

Maybe you've been carrying one of those dreams. Maybe it's a business, a book, a career change, or something else that's been sitting in the back of your mind for far too long.

I wrote this month's blog because I wanted to share the rest of the story and a simple exercise that helped me stop looking only at obstacles and start looking for possibilities instead.

I hope it encourages you as much as writing it encouraged me.

A Little Birthday Celebration 🎉

This month isn't just about looking back.

It's about celebrating with you.

The truth is, Terrie Power Coaching wouldn't be celebrating five years without the people who've trusted me, encouraged me, shared my work, invited a friend, attended a workshop, joined a cohort, or simply cheered me on from afar.

Thank you.

To celebrate, I'm sharing five anniversary bonuses throughout July as my way of saying thank you.

I'll be introducing the first one in Monday's email, so keep an eye on your inbox.

I think you'll be glad you did.

Until then, here's the question I'll leave you with:

What is one dream you've been quietly keeping in "someday"?

Maybe the momentum you're looking for begins with one next step.

Celebrating with you,

Terrie

P.S. For my friends in the United States, I hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July weekend celebrating our nation's 250th anniversary. As we celebrate freedom and new beginnings, I hope you'll also take a moment to celebrate the progress you've made this year and the possibilities still ahead. Thank you for being part of my journey. I'm looking forward to celebrating with you all month long.

A reboot isn't about starting over. Terrie Power Coaching … Last week I introduced the idea of a Reboot, Update, or Restore. Several of you reached out after reading the blog, and one question kept coming up: "Okay...but where do I start?" My answer is probably simpler than you're expecting. When we feel out of rhythm, we tend to think we need to fix everything. We start making long lists, creating new routines, or convincing ourselves that this time we're finally going to do it all. I've...

Before you start over, make sure you're solving the right problem. Terrie Power Coaching … Every August I hear the same thing. "I need to get back on track." Maybe you've said it too. Summer has a way of changing our routines. We stay up later. We travel. We say yes to things we normally wouldn't. And before we know it, August arrives and it feels like we should magically have everything figured out by Monday. Can I encourage you with one thought? Maybe nothing is wrong. Maybe you don't need...

What if you never felt ready? Terrie Power Coaching … A question for you... Have you noticed how "I just need to think about it a little more" can quietly turn into weeks...or even months? I laugh because I've said it, too. Sometimes it sounds like:"Let me do a little more research." Or..."I just need to get organized first." Or my personal favorite..."I'll start on Monday." None of those things are bad. But every now and then, they're really just another way of saying, "I'm waiting until I...
