Your Mind Matters: Finding Clarity, Curiosity, and Peace

Hey friend,

I don’t know about you, but life feels heavy right now.

There’s so much happening in the world, and it’s easy for our minds to get flooded with emotions:

fear,

anger,

fatigue,

or even that sense of “I just can’t take in one more thing.”

And here’s where the Enneagram can be so eye-opening.

Each type tends to handle the mental weight differently: some (like 6s) get caught in loops of worry, some (like 1s and 8s) go straight to frustration, while others (like 9s) shut down to find comfort.

Knowing your type can help you notice those patterns—and gently choose a healthier response.

Wherever you find yourself, it’s normal—and it’s also a sign that your mind needs care.

So let’s talk about your mind for a second. Not the “check off the to-do list” part, but the space that dreams, learns, and notices the little joys.

Truth is, your mind is a lot like your favorite coffee mug.

It holds what you pour into it.

If you keep filling it with stress, noise, and endless scrolls through the news or social media…well, no wonder it feels heavy.

But if you pour in things that inspire, calm, and spark curiosity?

Suddenly, life feels lighter.

Here’s a quirky little experiment:

  • Swap one scroll-break this week for a curiosity break. Google a random topic you know nothing about (like “why do whales sing?” or “who invented sourdough starter?”).
  • Or grab a notebook and jot down three questions you’d love answered in the next 10 years.
  • Bonus points if you doodle in the margins.

It doesn’t have to be big. Just tiny shifts that remind your brain it’s more than a task manager—it’s also a wonder seeker.

I wrote more about the Circle of Being and how your mind fits into it over on the blog. You can read it here.

💭 Note to Self: What I’m Learning
I’ve been listening to Soundtracks by Jon Acuff, and it’s made me realize how often my mind runs on repeat—sometimes with the wrong track playing. The first half of his book is all about noticing those “broken soundtracks” and asking: Is this thought true? Is it helpful? Is it kind? Just that little pause has helped me redirect my thinking and choose a better track.

🔧 Try This
Tonight, instead of scrolling, write down one question you’d love answered. Stick it on your fridge, your mirror, or your desk—and let your curiosity simmer this week.

With peace and purpose,
Terrie

Terrie Power Coaching It’s still 90° in Texas—but your connections might be cooling off. Everywhere I go lately, I hear the same phrase on repeat: “It’s just such a busy season.” It’s like the official soundtrack of October. Even though it’s still hot here in Texas, the pumpkin spice and Halloween decorations are doing their best to convince us it’s fall. But between full calendars, endless to-do lists, and all the noise of “getting things done,” connection is often the first thing that slips...

Terrie Power Coaching Habits That Nourish the Spirit The other night I was on my computer while Jason and I watched TV. The Wi-Fi was crawling.Jason was crunching away on his snacks. And me? I was sighing. Side-eyeing. Frustrated. Not because of the Wi-Fi. Not because of the eating. It was because my compassion tank was empty. When my spirit isn’t being cared for, little things feel huge. My patience gets thin. My empathy runs low. My joy feels far away. Have you noticed the same? Snapping at...

Terrie Power Coaching Fuel Your Body, Fuel Your Goals Hey friend, Let’s talk about your body for a minute. Not in a “new year, new you” kind of way, but in the real, everyday rhythm kind of way. Here’s the truth: your body is the engine that carries your goals forward. You can have the best plans, the prettiest planner, and the boldest dreams…but if your energy is running on fumes, consistency won’t last. And this isn’t just about your body on its own—it’s part of what I call the Circle of...
