Don't Let Ice Cream Solve Your Problems!

Terrie Power Coaching

Small Resets, Big Shifts

This week, I realized just how exhausting a fully packed schedule can be.

For seven straight days, I didn’t have a single moment to spare.

During the first half, I struggled to stay focused and stick to my goals.

I was too tired to exercise,

too busy to keep up with healthy habits.

Stress relief came in the form of

frozen custard (with Reese’s, of course).

But too many visits left me sluggish instead of fueled.

Then I turned it around.

What helped?

A session with my coach.

I realized I was using food as a crutch and my busy schedule as an excuse to slide back into unhealthy patterns.

With guidance, I laid out three options for myself:

  1. Ignore it and wait until life slowed down.
  2. Overcorrect with strict rules (no ice cream, no soda, no overeating).
  3. Meet in the middle with small changes and set a reset date.

I chose #3—and it worked. Small shifts without going overboard helped me keep moving forward.

A Strategy You Can Use:
When life is overwhelming and your habits start slipping:

  1. Name the Pattern – Be honest about what’s not working.
  2. List Your Options – Give yourself more than “all or nothing.”
  3. Choose the Middle – Pick one or two small resets

Your Next Step: Take one area of your life where you feel like frozen custard has taken over (it might be food, scrolling, or overscheduling). Write down three options for how you could handle it—then choose the middle ground and try it this week.

💭 Note to Self: What I’m Learning

Someone online said using a coach makes you weak.
For a split second, I believed it.
I thought—“Wait, if I’m a coach myself, shouldn’t I have it all together?”

But then I caught myself.
The truth is, every strong and successful person I know has support.
Athletes. Entrepreneurs. Leaders. Creatives.
None of them does it alone.

They invest in guidance.
They surround themselves with mentors, trainers, assistants, communities.
They know success isn’t a solo sport.

So why should I feel guilty for doing the same?

Asking for support isn’t weakness.
It’s wisdom.
It’s strength.
It’s choosing progress over pride.

🔧 Try This:
When you’re overwhelmed, let AI organize the chaos.
Open ChatGPT and use this prompt:

“Here are all the tasks I need to do today: [insert]. Act as a productivity expert and optimize this list by categorizing it, suggesting which ones to automate, batch, delegate, or skip, and give me a smart execution plan.”

It won’t replace a coach, but it’s a great way to clear mental clutter and get moving when you feel stuck.

To the resets,

Terrie

Terrie Power Coaching It’s still 90° in Texas—but your connections might be cooling off. Everywhere I go lately, I hear the same phrase on repeat: “It’s just such a busy season.” It’s like the official soundtrack of October. Even though it’s still hot here in Texas, the pumpkin spice and Halloween decorations are doing their best to convince us it’s fall. But between full calendars, endless to-do lists, and all the noise of “getting things done,” connection is often the first thing that slips...

Terrie Power Coaching Habits That Nourish the Spirit The other night I was on my computer while Jason and I watched TV. The Wi-Fi was crawling.Jason was crunching away on his snacks. And me? I was sighing. Side-eyeing. Frustrated. Not because of the Wi-Fi. Not because of the eating. It was because my compassion tank was empty. When my spirit isn’t being cared for, little things feel huge. My patience gets thin. My empathy runs low. My joy feels far away. Have you noticed the same? Snapping at...

Terrie Power Coaching Fuel Your Body, Fuel Your Goals Hey friend, Let’s talk about your body for a minute. Not in a “new year, new you” kind of way, but in the real, everyday rhythm kind of way. Here’s the truth: your body is the engine that carries your goals forward. You can have the best plans, the prettiest planner, and the boldest dreams…but if your energy is running on fumes, consistency won’t last. And this isn’t just about your body on its own—it’s part of what I call the Circle of...
