Let’s Talk Enneagram & Summer Joy

We started the summer off with a bang.

My husband and I took a nine-day trip, came home for a few days, and then took a four-day trip with our kids. It was amazing - so much fun and full of great memories.

But it was unusual for us.

We usually take a longer road trip later in the summer.

Suddenly, I feel like there’s nothing left to look forward to.

That thought hit me harder than I expected.

And as an Enneagram 9, I know how easy it is for me to drift when there’s no clear plan or external expectation.

Part of me wanted to shut down and just coast through the rest of the summer.

But I caught myself.
And instead of pushing myself to be productive just for the sake of it, I decided to make a shift.

This summer, I want to find me again.

Not just as a coach or mom or business owner, but as a person.
I want joy and purpose to be part of my rhythm.
I want to build meaningful things and still make space to breathe, explore, and be.

That’s why I love using the Enneagram to guide people—and myself—toward a life that feels aligned.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re on autopilot or just going along with everyone else’s plans, here’s your reminder:
You get to shape this season.

Here’s a little type-specific inspiration for summer alignment:

Type 1 – Principled Reformers
Let go of the plan one day a week. Try something spontaneous—just for fun.

Type 2 – Nurturing Supporters
Do something just for you. Not because someone else needs it—just because you want it.

Type 3 – Admirable Achievers
Celebrate progress outside of work. You are not your to-do list.

Type 4 – Introspective Individualists
Create beauty without pressure. Express what’s in your heart.

Type 5 – Analytical Investigators
Take quiet “exploration days.” Wander, read, or think—no output required.

Type 6 – Loyal Guardians
Simplify your schedule. Rest can be responsible, too.

Type 7 – Enthusiastic Optimists
Pick one small joy to savor. Really stop and take it in.

Type 8 – Passionate Protectors
Use your strength to protect your peace. Make space for presence.

Type 9 – Peaceful Mediators
Come back to yourself. Music, movement, or stillness—whatever grounds you.

The Big Idea:
Summer doesn’t have to be packed or perfect.
It just needs to feel like you.

Note to Self: What I am learning

I’ve been reading The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. One part really stood out:

Comparison is slowing me down.

I’ve been looking around too much, wondering if I’m doing “enough” or doing it “right.”

This week, I’m learning to let that go.
To trust my path.
And to stop trying to match someone else’s pace.

Question for You:
Have you ever noticed comparison slowing you down or stealing your peace?
What’s one area where you’re ready to let them and stay true to you?

Hit reply and let me know—I'd love to hear your thoughts. I read every response.

To a great summer,

Terrie

Terrie Power Coaching The Goals You Don’t Set Might Be Holding You Back Several years ago, I realized something about the way I set goals—and I’ve seen others express it as well. I used to only set goals around things I could control. Things like: how many emails I’d send, how many hours I’d work, How many days I’d work out. I avoided setting goals like: “I’ll sign 5 new clients.” “I’ll earn $10K this quarter.” “I’ll lose 10 pounds.” Why? Because those outcomes depend on other people. And I...

Terrie Power Coaching You’re more than who others think you are. To one person, you’re the steady one. To another, the dreamer. To someone else, the fixer… the peacemaker… the bold one. Everyone sees you through their own lens. And over time, it’s easy to forget:You’re allowed to be more than their version of you. We carry stories about ourselves that were handed to us—through family, work, friendships, or past experiences. Some of those stories feel true. Others? They box us in. They keep us...

Terrie Power Coaching What are my goals??? I was sitting there, heart pounding. I knew the answer, but my mind was completely blank. Someone had asked, "So, what goals do you have for this quarter?" Normally, I'm the one asking that question! I remembered coaching a group a couple of years ago. I passionately emphasized the importance of knowing your goals clearly. Many had admitted they couldn't recall theirs. So, I had stressed how critical it was to know your goals. Yet, there I was,...
