Imagine a summer that gives back...

What if summer wasn’t just a break, but a reset?

Reader, Is it summer already?

Summer used to mean one thing for me: sloth mode.

No alarms. No schedule. Just lots of TV, comfy clothes, and doing absolutely nothing. Eventually I’d sprinkle in a few fun trips or pool days, but honestly?

By the end of the break, I’d often wonder…

Did I actually feel refreshed?

Then came a shift. Running my own business turned summer into “go time.” I started using the season to catch up, build new things, and move everything forward.

But lately I’ve been asking:

What do I really want this summer to feel like?

Here’s what I landed on:
I want joy.
I want peace.

And I want to live with intention, not just during summer, but in every season.

The activities may change, but how do I want to feel? That stays the same.

And sometimes that clarity shows up in the simplest things.

Like choosing a nail design that made me smile.

I saw it on Pinterest and loved it - fun and colorful. But someone had recently told me toenail designs were “out.” For a second, I second-guessed myself.

Then I thought:

Who cares? It brings me joy. I’m doing it anyway.

Now, every time I look down (and in Texas, we wear sandals a lot), I see that little reminder:

  • I don’t have to follow trends.
  • I don’t have to do what everyone else is doing.
  • I get to choose what makes me feel alive.

That tiny decision was a little “yes” to being fully myself.

And guess what? I’m even sharing a picture of my painted toenails, which is huge for me because I’ve never really liked my toes. 🙈 So not only am I doing something that brings me joy… I’m taking a little risk and sharing it too—fun, bold, and totally me.

So I’m passing the question to you:

  • What’s something small that brings you joy?
  • What would it look like to say yes to it, just for you?
  • What’s one way you can live more like yourself this summer?

You don’t have to answer right away.

Maybe take a quiet moment later today—on a walk, while folding laundry, or sipping coffee. Let the question linger.
What makes you smile for no reason? What feels like you, even if it’s small?

Start there.

Terrie Power Coaching The Goals You Don’t Set Might Be Holding You Back Several years ago, I realized something about the way I set goals—and I’ve seen others express it as well. I used to only set goals around things I could control. Things like: how many emails I’d send, how many hours I’d work, How many days I’d work out. I avoided setting goals like: “I’ll sign 5 new clients.” “I’ll earn $10K this quarter.” “I’ll lose 10 pounds.” Why? Because those outcomes depend on other people. And I...

Terrie Power Coaching You’re more than who others think you are. To one person, you’re the steady one. To another, the dreamer. To someone else, the fixer… the peacemaker… the bold one. Everyone sees you through their own lens. And over time, it’s easy to forget:You’re allowed to be more than their version of you. We carry stories about ourselves that were handed to us—through family, work, friendships, or past experiences. Some of those stories feel true. Others? They box us in. They keep us...

Terrie Power Coaching What are my goals??? I was sitting there, heart pounding. I knew the answer, but my mind was completely blank. Someone had asked, "So, what goals do you have for this quarter?" Normally, I'm the one asking that question! I remembered coaching a group a couple of years ago. I passionately emphasized the importance of knowing your goals clearly. Many had admitted they couldn't recall theirs. So, I had stressed how critical it was to know your goals. Yet, there I was,...
