Energy Tips To Reclaim Your “Maycember”

May Looks Peaceful… But Feels Like a Marathon

The other day, I sat down and thought, “Why am I so tired? This doesn’t make sense.”

And then it hit me.

Of course I’m tired.

We’re in Maycember.

That sneaky season that looks like sunshine, flowers, and end-of-year hope…
…but feels like a full-blown sprint to the finish line.

Graduations. School events. Deadlines. Final pushes at work. Sports, celebrations, and a never-ending to-do list.

No wonder we’re all stretched thin.

As I sat there, worn out and trying to plan my next move, I realized something:

Instead of trying to “push through,” I needed to step back and ask—

What actually works for me in this season?

Not what works for everyone else.
Not what I should be doing.

But what fits the way I’m wired.

That shift changed everything.

So instead of talking about how to just “reserve” your energy, let’s talk about how to increase it—by working with your own natural rhythms, strengths, and motivations.

Here are a few things helping me (and my clients) right now:

1. Adjust Your Daily Expectations
Give yourself permission to not do it all. Focus on your essential tasks and give yourself space. (Daily Big 3, anyone?)

2. Hydrate + Fuel Wisely
Don’t underestimate how much energy you lose to dehydration and sugar crashes. Simple swaps go a long way.

3. Move a Little
You don’t need a full workout—just get your body moving. Stretch. Walk. Dance in your kitchen. It adds up.

4. Protect Your Focus
This is the month of a million distractions. Small boundaries with tech or time can help you reclaim your peace.

5. Choose Your Mode
In my FLEX Focus Framework, we talk about finding the right mode for the season you're in. Maybe it’s not “go big or go home.” Maybe it’s time for Light Mode—focused, present, but with margin to breathe.

You’re not lazy.
You’re not behind.
You’re just in Maycember.

So let’s stop pretending this season is light and breezy, and start giving ourselves the support we need to actually enjoy it.

What I’ve found over and over again is this:
When you know how you’re uniquely wired—your personality, your patterns, your default settings—you can make better decisions, use your energy wisely, and actually enjoy the season you’re in.

That’s why I love using tools like the Enneagram, Working Genius, and other tools in coaching. It helps you understand your natural strengths, motivations, and what drains or energizes you.

And that insight?

It’s the key to building a plan that doesn’t burn you out.

I’m cheering you on.

Terrie

P.S.
If you’re tired of running on empty and you know you want to be more intentional this summer, let’s talk.

I’m offering a few free consult calls this month to help you explore what summer coaching might look like. We’ll talk about your goals, your unique personality, and how to create a flexible plan that fits you—not a one-size-fits-all template.

Whether you're looking to make progress on something specific, reclaim your energy, or just find clarity in the chaos, I’d love to help.

Let’s build a summer rhythm that supports you—in the way only you were designed to thrive.

Terrie Power Coaching The Goals You Don’t Set Might Be Holding You Back Several years ago, I realized something about the way I set goals—and I’ve seen others express it as well. I used to only set goals around things I could control. Things like: how many emails I’d send, how many hours I’d work, How many days I’d work out. I avoided setting goals like: “I’ll sign 5 new clients.” “I’ll earn $10K this quarter.” “I’ll lose 10 pounds.” Why? Because those outcomes depend on other people. And I...

Terrie Power Coaching You’re more than who others think you are. To one person, you’re the steady one. To another, the dreamer. To someone else, the fixer… the peacemaker… the bold one. Everyone sees you through their own lens. And over time, it’s easy to forget:You’re allowed to be more than their version of you. We carry stories about ourselves that were handed to us—through family, work, friendships, or past experiences. Some of those stories feel true. Others? They box us in. They keep us...

Terrie Power Coaching What are my goals??? I was sitting there, heart pounding. I knew the answer, but my mind was completely blank. Someone had asked, "So, what goals do you have for this quarter?" Normally, I'm the one asking that question! I remembered coaching a group a couple of years ago. I passionately emphasized the importance of knowing your goals clearly. Many had admitted they couldn't recall theirs. So, I had stressed how critical it was to know your goals. Yet, there I was,...
