Four Weeks Later, It Finally Hit Me

Sometimes growth asks us to build differently.

Terrie Power Coaching

I've been thinking about something this week.

School has been back in session for about four weeks now, and it finally hit me...

My life is really different now.

For years, August meant getting ready for another school year. It was one of my favorite times of the year. I loved the excitement, the people, the traditions...all of it.

This year was different.

Instead of getting a classroom ready, I was sitting at my desk building Terrie Power Coaching.

I expected to feel excited, and I was.

But I didn't expect all the other emotions that came with it.

I felt relieved because I'm finally giving this business my full attention. I felt grateful because I know this is where God has called me. But if I'm honest, there was a little sadness too.

I miss the people. I miss the traditions. I miss being part of something that shaped so much of my life.

I guess that's what happens when one season ends and another one begins.

The thing I've realized is...I don't want to build this business the way I used to.

Back then, I had to squeeze coaching into evenings and weekends. I worked around my job.

Now I get to build my work around the life I actually want to live.

I want rhythms that leave room for peace.

Room for joy.

Room to think, create, and serve my clients well.

Because if I'm always rushing, I can't bring my best to the people I'm called to serve.

Maybe that's what growth really looks like.

Not becoming someone different.

Being willing to let your life reflect who you're becoming.

Before September gets busy, maybe spend a few minutes with these questions:

  • What do I want to protect this fall?
  • What no longer fits this season?
  • What kind of rhythms would bring me more peace and joy?

You don't have to have all the answers today.

Sometimes the first step is simply noticing that life has changed.

One More Thing...

A couple of weeks ago I told you I was updating my wardrobe.

I thought I was just buying a few new clothes.

Then, while talking with my coach, I heard myself say something I'd never said out loud:

"I need to start dressing for who I am today, not for who I used to be."

That sentence caught me off guard.

It wasn't really about clothes.

It was about giving myself permission to fully step into this season instead of holding on to the last one.

Maybe that's what a restore really is.

Not starting over.

Just making room for the life you're growing into.

Have a wonderful week,

Terrie

P.S. If this email resonated with you and you're sensing life has changed but you're not sure what your next step looks like, I'd love to help.

A Momentum Conversation is simply a chance to think out loud together. Sometimes another perspective is all it takes to discover the rhythms that fit the season you're in.

Sometimes the best update isn't adding something new. Terrie Power Coaching … I've been thinking about something this week. Isn't it funny how we're so quick to blame ourselves when something stops working? Our first thought is usually, "I need to try harder." We rarely stop to ask if life has changed. And honestly...life changes all the time. Maybe the kids are back in school. Maybe your business has grown. Maybe you're caring for aging parents. Or maybe your priorities have quietly shifted...

A reboot isn't about starting over. Terrie Power Coaching … Last week I introduced the idea of a Reboot, Update, or Restore. Several of you reached out after reading the blog, and one question kept coming up: "Okay...but where do I start?" My answer is probably simpler than you're expecting. When we feel out of rhythm, we tend to think we need to fix everything. We start making long lists, creating new routines, or convincing ourselves that this time we're finally going to do it all. I've...

Before you start over, make sure you're solving the right problem. Terrie Power Coaching … Every August I hear the same thing. "I need to get back on track." Maybe you've said it too. Summer has a way of changing our routines. We stay up later. We travel. We say yes to things we normally wouldn't. And before we know it, August arrives and it feels like we should magically have everything figured out by Monday. Can I encourage you with one thought? Maybe nothing is wrong. Maybe you don't need...
