HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Don't go into 2026 with your eyes closed. Before we rush ahead, let’s pause and look back.
I love end-of-the-year reviews—watching them online or doing them myself. As an Enneagram 9 with a past orientation, I naturally love looking back. Reflection feels grounding to me. It may not be your strength or even your desire, but I’ve found it truly makes a difference. I especially love doing it today as I am home sick and do not have the energy to do anything else. (Gotta love starting the year off feeling under the weather 🤒).
The one step of looking back is a great runway for your 2026 goals.
Not to judge yourself. Not to “grade” the year. Just to notice what’s true.
When you actually review your year, you start spotting patterns you’d miss otherwise:
What gave you life.
What quietly drained you.
What you handled better than you think.
What you want more of next year.
Here are fun, doable ways to review your year, plus tools that make it easy.
And if you’re thinking, “Wait, shouldn’t I be working on my goals or resolutions? It’s January 1 and I don’t have them ready yet!”—you’re not alone. I like to take the first two weeks of January to set my goals. I want to make sure I’m choosing what’s authentic and what I truly desire. Give yourself time to work through this. I’ll be sending more guidance over the next few weeks to help you set goals that actually fit you. New year, new rhythm.
DIY VERSION (do it yourself, no fancy tools needed)
📸 Photo Story, Not Photo Dump
Instead of scrolling endlessly:
• 1 photo per month with a caption:
“This month taught me…”
• OR create “chapters”:
• The Hard Parts
• The Unexpected Joy
• The Quiet Wins
• The Turning Points
Bonus: Print them or make a Canva carousel.
🎵 Soundtrack of 2025
Music holds emotion better than words.
• Pick one song per season and write why it fit
• OR create playlists like:
• “Songs That Carried Me”
• “Songs I Played While Healing”
• “Songs That Made Me Feel Like Me Again”
Reflection prompt:
Who was I becoming when I listened to this?
🎥 “If 2025 Were a Movie…”
Answer playfully:
• Genre: Drama? Coming-of-Age? Indie? Documentary?
• Opening scene
• Plot twist you didn’t expect
• Supporting characters
• Ending tone (not outcome—tone)
This is one of the easiest ways to gain perspective without overthinking.
🕯️ Faith + Reflection Version (if this fits you)
• Where did I feel God’s presence most clearly?
• Where did I resist?
• Where did grace meet me when I ran out?
Simple. Honest. No pressure.
