Here’s something I’ve learned about myself: I don’t need my environment to be perfect... but if I let it completely fall apart? Yikes.
I love organization.
Give me labeled bins, color-coded folders, and a planner that looks ready for Instagram, and I’m in my happy place.
But as a Type Nine, I can also live with chaos a little too long. I’ll say things like, “It’s fine, I know where everything is,” until suddenly I’m grumpy for no reason and realize my space looks like a craft store exploded.
That’s when it hits me.
My surroundings shape my mood way more than I want to admit.
When things feel calm, I’m calm.
When they’re messy, I’m… well, messy.
The Circle of Environment isn’t just about your home or office. It’s the outer circle that wraps around your whole life. It affects how you think, how you connect, and how you move toward your goals. When your outer world is in rhythm, everything inside flows easier.

💭 Note to Self: What I’m Learning
We just wrapped up the Future Focus Cohort, and wow—seeing everyone’s ten-year plans come together was so inspiring.
You all are dreaming big!
But I’ll be honest.
Long-term planning sometimes stresses me out. I start thinking, Okay, but how do I actually turn all this into habits and goals? Then my brain goes into overdrive, and suddenly I’m trying to fix everything at once.
This week, I told myself I needed a “reset.” Somehow that turned into a full-blown life makeover—work, house, health, routines, all of it. By midweek, I was exhausted, frustrated, and wondering why my “reset” felt like running a marathon with a backpack full of planners.
Then it hit me: I didn’t need a do-over.
I just needed a reset.
So, I slowed down.
Looked at my current goals.
Focused on the few things that had drifted off course.
I started small—restarting habits that used to work instead of inventing new ones.
And just like that, peace started creeping back in.
Turns out, growth isn’t about doing something brand new. Sometimes it’s just about returning to what already works.
What about you? When you make a new plan, do you try to fix everything at once—or take it one reset at a time?
🔧 Try This
If you’ve been feeling “off” with your environment, try this little experiment.
Pick one area that feels out of sync.
Now, give it five minutes of attention. Just five.
- Clear one surface you see every day.
- Light a candle or open a window.
Bring back a small habit that used to help.
- Do one thing that turns “ugh” into “ahh.”
You don’t need to start over. You just need to start again.
With gratitude and a freshly lit candle,
Terrie 🤍
