Moving too quick?? SLOW DOWN to Reduce holiday stress

Terrie Power Coaching

I Didn’t Expect to Learn This While Driving to Work

I saw something this week that made me laugh.
And roll my eyes.
At myself.

I was driving to work and saw a construction crew tearing up a road they had just finished.
Like… brand new.
Still smooth.
Still pretty.

And there they were.
Digging it up again to fix the pipes underneath.

My first thought was, “Why are we rebuilding something we literally just built?”
My second thought was, “Okay Terrie, when have you done this?”

Because I do it.
I rush.
I skip planning.
I jump straight into the week like I’m sliding into home plate.
And then I end up fixing things I already “finished.”

And that behind feeling?
It gets louder during the holidays.

So I wrote a blog about this little construction moment and what it taught me.
If you’ve been hoping to reduce holiday stress and find a little more joy and intention, this might help.

Here are the three steps I share:

1. Slow down before you speed up.
2. Build your plan before you build your week.
3. Make space for what matters most.

Simple.
But powerful.

💭 Note to Self: What I’m Learning

We talked about the FLEX Modes in our Finish Strong Cohort this week. I love how my community helps me learn and grow.
If you’re new here, FLEX is just a simple way to check in with yourself and match your effort to your actual capacity.

There are four levels.
Full Mode is when you're all in.
Light Mode is steady but easier.
Essentials Mode is the must-do stuff only.
And X-Out Mode is when life hits and you need to stop and breathe.

Here’s what hit me.
I have to slow down long enough to notice where I actually am.
I can’t choose a mode if I don’t pause.
So during my weekly preview, I take a minute to look at my week and my energy.
It helps me decide what’s realistic.
We have to plan if we want to move with intention instead of guessing our way through everything.

🔧 Try This

Take two minutes today and peek at tomorrow’s calendar.
Not to plan the whole day.
Just to see what’s already sitting there.
That tiny check-in saves you from walking into surprises and shifting into panic mode.

Terrie Power Coaching A December Reset and What It’s Teaching Me There’s something about December that makes things feel clearer. The lights, the quiet moments, the sense that a new year is close. This year, that feeling has shown up in a new way for me. I’ve been working on my 2026 offers and getting steadily more excited. But in the middle of all that, I hit a wall. Not because I didn’t have ideas, but because I had too many. My Enneagram Nine brain went into full “every path looks good”...

Terrie Power Coaching When Thanksgiving starts to look different This year, our Thanksgiving looks different. Maybe yours does too. We’re in that new phase of life where the “kids” are married, engaged, working real jobs with real schedules, juggling in-laws, holidays, and responsibilities of their own. And this year, all of that showed up in our plans. We’re still having our traditional Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, but not everyone can be here. Some are working. Some are with other family....
