Are you waiting too long to celebrate?

You Don't Have to Wait to Celebrate

Terrie Power Coaching

…

I think my dog Pepper has figured out something I keep forgetting.

Every afternoon she goes next door to visit my parents. She sniffs around the kitchen first, just in case something interesting has fallen on the floor, and then she heads to their chairs to wait for a treat. The moment one of them moves, our 68-pound pointer mix starts twirling and leaping like this is the most exciting thing that has ever happened to her.

And the funny part? She does this every single day. Yesterday's treat hasn't made today's any less exciting.

WHAT IF WE DIDN'T WAIT FOR THE BIG FINISH?

I've been thinking about how often we move straight from one accomplishment to the next without stopping to recognize the work it took to get there. As business owners and people pursuing meaningful goals, we can spend so much time looking toward what's ahead that we barely notice what's happening right now.

I know I do. And that's why I've decided to take a little inspiration from Pepper this week.

I ALSO HAVE SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE!

I am officially a Certified Coach from The Life Coach School!

I'm excited about this certification, but I'm also celebrating the learning, the practice, and the commitment it took to reach this point. I love coaching, and I love continuing to grow in how I help people recognize the thoughts and patterns that keep them stuck, then find ways forward that fit who they are.

It's especially meaningful after a summer when I put a lot of work into new offers that didn't get the response I hoped for. I was disappointed, of course, but the experience taught me things I couldn't have learned by sitting on the sidelines. There is room to celebrate the milestone AND the messy learning that came before it.

TRY PEPPER'S APPROACH TODAY

Before you move on to the next task, ask yourself what you can celebrate. Maybe it's a finished project, a difficult conversation, the courage to try something unfamiliar, or simply a moment of joy you almost missed. If you use a planner, jot it down where you'll see it again.

I wrote more about Pepper, small wins, and what to do when the outcome wasn't what you hoped for in this week's blog:

What My Dog Taught Me About Joy, Celebration, and Momentum

And now I want to celebrate with you. Hit reply and tell me one thing, big or small, that's worth celebrating in your life this week. I'd genuinely love to hear it.

With joy,

Terrie

P.S. You don't have to be finished to have made meaningful progress.

You can stop and reset Terrie Power Coaching … October is one of my favorite months. It’s my birthday month, and my family spoiled me. But this October was also hard. At a conference early in the month, an expensive service was offered. It wasn’t right for me at this time, but it stirred up something I wanted: more help finding new ways to market and grow my business. I started noticing what I couldn’t afford and what I didn’t have. And the more I focused there, the harder it became to see...

When the plan becomes personal Terrie Power Coaching … I sat down to plan my week and ended up questioning whether I could run a successful business. That’s a pretty big leap. But in the moment, I didn’t notice I’d made it. Have you ever ended a busy day wondering how you worked so much and still didn’t get to the thing that mattered most? After two chaotic weeks, I wanted my reset plan to help me get back on track. Instead, I got caught up working on my new prayer journal. It was worth...

Does your invisible boss ever take a break? Terrie Power Coaching … “I can’t clean up. My boss needs me to finish this.” Those words came from my youngest son when he was four. He had an invisible boss who “made” him do all sorts of tasks. It was cute to watch him working at his lap desk, coloring his picture. Well, cute until his boss became an excuse to skip his chores. Years later, I still remember that boss. And sometimes I wonder if I have one, too. Someone who keeps adding tasks and...
